Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience with Epic or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. - 6 North Trauma Surgical requires at least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: chemo experience highly preferred.

Special Requests: - You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. - Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. - Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. - Up to 7 days off may be approved excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval: Martin Luther King Jr. Day: 1/19; Valentine’s Day (week): 2/13 -15; entire month of March; Easter Weekend: 4/3 - 4/5; Mother’s Day Weekend: 5/8-10; Memorial Day (week): 5/23 – 5/25; Father’s Day Weekend 6/19-21; Fourth of July 7/3-7/5; Labor day weekend: 9/5-9/7; Halloween: 10/30-11/1; Thanksgiving: 11/25-11/29; Christmas and New Year’s: 12/18-1/1.

Unit Details: - 6 North Trauma Surgical: general surgery and vascular surgeries; patient ratio 1:5-6; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, and IV skills. - 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post trauma, and angiogram; patient ratio 1:5-6; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG/NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, and restraints. - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: MS/Oncology, palliative care, and ETOH withdrawal; all patient types except stroke and MI; patient ratio 1:6 for RNs and LPNs; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. Telemetry monitoring is on hallway monitors and by tele techs on the ground floor. - 4 South Clinical Decision Unit: general MedSurg including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort; patient ratio 1:5-6; tracheotomy care, suctioning, PEG/NGT care and use, chest tube, central line care, and restraints. - 3 South Orthopedics: orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; patient ratios 1:5 and 1:6 if MedSurg; PCA pumps, negative pressure dressing, and drains including hemovacs/JP drains. - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: urology, ENT, ortho, and MedSurg; patient ratio 1-5:6; trach, wound vacs, IV starts, and CVL dressing changes. - RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings q4 hours. - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors. - Parking: Parking deck only 2nd through 4th levels

Shift & Scheduling: - Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.

Floating Requirements: - Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).

7 days maximum time off.
