Job SummaryInvolves the development and implementation of the organization's information systems and tools that are applied to clinical information for the research community at UCSF.  Leads product management of UCSF’s research data assets, Information Commons, and other data/technology infrastructure for research, including research AI solutions. Oversees user success services supporting researchers working with the research data infrastructure. This manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a research enterprise data strategy that aligns enterprise information assets with business and technology strategy.  This role will work closely with research stakeholders across the clinical research and data sciences enterprise to develop a strategy and roadmap enabling efficient and actionable use of research data across the UCSF Enterprise. This manager will oversee a user success program, implementing user-centered support services to assist researchers in utilizing ARS research data/technology infrastructure effectively.The Manager of Research Data Assets Product Management will work closely with research stakeholders, IT governance, IT management and across the clinical research and data sciences enterprise to:Spearhead the gathering of research data use cases, which will inform the development of a cohesive roadmap for our organization.Define and implement a comprehensive data strategy and roadmap for UCSF Informatics Research, aligning our enterprise information assets with our overall business and technology strategy.Define and implement the research AI strategy and the associated research AI roadmap, ensuring that our organization remains at the forefront of technological advancements.Collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders, fostering a culture of cooperation and mutual success.The development of a user community, incorporating elements such as user groups, office hours, and colloquiums to promote learning and collaboration.Lead the product support of UCSF research data assets, tools and computational infrastructure, ensuring that our products continue to meet our researchers and customers’ needs.Lead the strategy and development of training materials, ensuring that all users are proficient and comfortable with our systems.Lead the communication strategy and outreach program, promoting our services and maintaining open lines of communication with all users.Oversee the supervision, hiring, training, and counseling of staff, as well as the delivery of performance appraisals.The successful candidate will have leadership skills, be customer-focused, and have extensive experience in developing research enterprise data architecture solutions.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.To see the salary range for this position (we recommend that you make a note of the job code and use that to look up): TCS Non-Academic Titles Search (https://tcs.ucop.edu/non-academic-titles)Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: Department DescriptionAcademic Research Systems (ARS) serves the needs of the UCSF research community by providing an integrated repository of HIPAA-compliant clinical and life sciences data and a centralized, secure, professionally managed infrastructure for the storage and management of research data. Understanding of data management principles, including data governance, data quality, and data lifecycle management. Knowledge of data analytics techniques and tools to derive insights from research data.Ability to define and implement technical processes and data systemsResearch Domain Expertise: familiarity with the research process and domain-specific knowledge relevant to clinical and biomedical research. Understanding of the needs, challenges, and priorities of researchers.Knowledge of research data infrastructure, including databases, cloud computing, data repositories, and data integration technologies. Awareness of emerging trends and advancements in data technology.Experience in data science and data analyticsUnderstanding of strategic planning principles and methodologies. Knowledge of how to align organizational goals with data strategy to drive innovation and competitive advantage.Understanding of UX principles and methodologies to ensure that research data infrastructure meets the needs and expectations of users.
