Job SummaryThe Senior Collaboration Services Engineer plays a pivotal role in enhancing productivity and communication within Infrastructure Services by spearheading the integration and maintenance of a diverse array of productivity tools. Tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining tailored productivity solutions, the engineers maintain the infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, ensure security protocols, deliver user training, and meticulously document procedures.Working closely with stakeholders across academic, medical, research, and administrative units at UCSF, the Senior Collaboration Services Engineer identifies opportunities to introduce new tools and modernize existing ones, all aimed at elevating the overall customer experience. In partnership with key internal teams and external vendors, they drive initiatives to streamline processes and workflows, prioritizing both security and compliance. Their guidance in optimizing productivity systems is bolstered by extensive interaction with the Digital Workplace Services Director, Collaboration Services Manager, Unified Communications Manager, Unified Communications Engineers, and fellow Collaboration Services Engineers.Involves providing a variety of IT services. Assignments may include database administration, application programming, IT project management, systems administration, systems and process analysis, security, solution development and maintenance, business technical assistance, or a combination of these and/or other IT functions.The Senior Collaboration Services Engineer will positively impact UCSF’s operations and culture by ensuring UCSF’s IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the University’s mission. The department ensures seamless connectivity and efficient communication across various departments, supporting the institution's mission of providing high-quality healthcare, education, and research. The team plays a crucial role in implementing and optimizing digital workplace solutions to meet the diverse needs of faculty, clinicians, staff, and students, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and collaboration within UCSF.Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience/training in one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications. 5 to 7+ years  Experience working in one or more of the following fields: IT, computer science, computer information systems, etc.Advanced ability to design, architect, and optimize Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, and Azure Active Directory, ensuring seamless integration and optimal functionality. Experience with Active Directory and LDAP.Demonstrated advanced experience supporting the infrastructure of digital workplace technologies including Box, Slack, Google Workspace, Confluence and collaboration and virtual whiteboard platforms such as Miro.Demonstrated extensive experience with messaging related technologies such as Proofpoint, FireEye EX, Exchange, and LISTSERV.Advanced knowledge of network systems, network protocols and topologies, including LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.Demonstrated advanced proficiency in creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures, ensuring knowledge transfer and adherence to best practices.Advanced expertise in utilizing automation tools such as PowerShell, Unix shell scripting, and APIs to streamline administrative tasks, enhance system efficiency, and facilitate seamless integration between disparate systems.Proven track record of effectively presenting technical concepts and solutions to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders and business executives in clear, concise, and business-friendly terms, highlighting the strategic value of collaboration initiatives.Ability to interpret, analyze, and apply complex service-level agreements (SLAs), policies, procedures, regulations, and compliance requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards.Demonstrated ability to synthesize and distill large volumes of complex data and input into actionable insights and outcomes, driving informed decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to evolving priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.Proven track record of developing and nurturing collaborative working relationships within a diverse team environment, fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.Preferred Qualifications7 or more years   Experience working in one or more of the following fields: IT, computer science, computer information systems, etc.Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, Fundamentals, Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate, Teams Administrator Associate, or equivalent.Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to foster positive working relationships and cultivate a strong rapport with colleagues, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic, medical, and research and administrative functions of a large public university. Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution. Knowledge necessary to design, set up, operate and correct malfunctions involving technology systems. Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis.In-depth knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications.In-depth knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software.
