Shift - 3-days rotating, 12-hours, 6 PM to 6 AM
What this job involves - The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing all engineering operations and maintenance activities for assigned properties. This role is responsible for assisting in the management of building systems, preventive maintenance programs, and energy conservation initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
What is the day to day?
- Assist in managing day-to-day engineering operations and maintenance activities
- Support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs
- Help coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors for various building projects
- Contribute to energy management and sustainability initiatives
- Assist in budget preparation and cost control measures
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
- Participate in emergency response and disaster recovery planning
- Support the training and development of engineering team members
- Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation of all engineering activities
Desired experience and technical skills –
Required
- 5+ years of experience in commercial building engineering or facilities management
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Familiarity with building automation systems and energy management practices
- Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS software
- Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (nights)
Preferred
- Relevant engineering or facilities management certifications
- OSHA safety certification
