ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure optimum delivery reliability to the customer by analyzing existing routes and driving improved efficiencies.
• Initiate and support routing projects to reduce overall miles, increase on time, reduce goal distance, optimize depots and service territory, and cross-divisional transfers.
• Drives and supports important routing metrics: On Time, Cases/Truck/Mile/Stop, Goal Distance.
• Ensure routes are scheduled and sequenced in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
• Anticipates, analyzes and troubleshoots problems with routes and devises cost-effective and legal solutions; and acts to implement same.
• Prepare and/or analyze various reports on a daily and/or weekly basis.Works closely with sales and warehouse departments to determine delivery feasibility.
• Proactively review service and cost place improvement by identifying strategic depot locations.
• Schedule and facilitate routing meetings with sales leadership team to review and align on delivery time windows and optimization of routes.
• Responsible for achieving fuel and miles savings by improving goal distance.
• Manages support of the routers.
• Counsels, consults, communicates, instructs and monitors direct-reporting employees in acceptable practices and within department and Company policies and procedures. Further develops routers by facilitating or arranging for appropriate and timely training.
• Acts as a change agent for the routing department to optimize functions.
• Works with transparency in processes and decision making. Strategically plans for future changes or optimization within the department.
• Acts as an owner of the routing department and provides leadership to those within department through recognition, encouragement, and rewards.
SUPERVISION: Routers
RELATIONSHIPS Internal: Transportation and Warehouse Management, VP Operations, Drivers, Warehouse management, Sales leaders External: Customers
QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED required; four-year college degree preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Computer skills, inventory control, supervisory/leadership skills, familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements. Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates/departments within the company. Ability to handle day-to-day operations. Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) i.e. OmniTracs, Roadnet, Mainframe, Tandem and tools used to perform the job. Must know/have ability to learn MSDS information regarding all material used within the scope of the work.
Related Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a transportation/operations supervisory role and 3 years of routing experience with 1 year of the experience in a high volume cases shipped environment required. Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required (I.E. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, And Access), Proficient in Routing Software required, Effective Communication Teaming
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $55,000 and $90,000.
This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.
