JOB SUMMARY
This position supervises warehouse and labeling personnel to ensure efficient and orderly completion of receiving, shipping, selection, checking, loading and labeling of orders while maintaining the warehouse in an organized, safe and sanitary fashion. Responsible for implementing and executing the Sysco international food group's (IFG) food safety policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures warehouse is maintained in a safe and sanitary manner, communicates to appropriate personnel if tasks need completion.
- Assigns and balances daily workload to warehouse and labeling personnel to include partnering with staffing agencies daily to ensure enough temporary labor is present to complete workload.
- Assists with receiving, storing, selecting, loading, checking or labeling when needed.
- Compiles shift reports including productivity and accuracy statistics and shares with the operations management team.
- Completes labeling paperwork to include: verifies shipment loading appointments with the logistics calendar and labeling calendar and revises if necessary on the labeling folders and pull sheets.
- Reviews shipment pull sheets to see what items still need to be labeled and researches through systems.
- Emails market managers and merchandisers when product issues arise.
- Confirms the expected label counts.
- Reviews shift label count sheets.
- Researches quality issues.
- Manages labeling supply inventory.
- Coaches and trains/retrains associates on performance and safety topics.
- Completes COACH cards and preferred work method assessments.
- Assists with safety incident investigations as needed.
- Safety - Conducts daily pre-shift meetings and stretches.
- Maintains preventative maintenance (PM) for material handling equipment (MHE) and collects monthly OSHA Cards.
- Reinforces safe work practices with the team.
- Conducts pre/post-shift walkthrough to ensure the warehouse is safely and securely.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- HSD or equivalent.
Experience
- 2 - 3 years of warehouse experience in increasingly responsible positions.
- 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Professional Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (in email and verbally).
- Have good time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a high-stress environment.
Physical Demand
- Occasionally required lifting of 50 – 75 lbs.
Work Environment
- The workload can vary significantly.
- Associates in this role must have the flexibility to work shifts that may include long hours and have varying shift start and end times.
