Hybrid: This role is remote two days a week (Monday and Friday) and onsite three days a week in our Rosemont, IL office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Sourcing Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with category and merchandising objectives.

  • Support Category Management in planning and scheduling sourcing events to meet category timelines and business needs.

  • Translate category strategies into actionable sourcing plans and initiatives.

Strategic Vendor Management

  • Manage supplier relationships for assigned EB portfolios, driving cost, service, and performance improvements.

  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen supplier partnerships and supply continuity.

Cost Modeling & Analytics

  • Lead cost modeling and “clean sheet” analysis to identify cost-reduction and margin-improvement opportunities.

  • Leverage data and market insights to support fact-based sourcing decisions and negotiations.

Negotiation & Contract Management

  • Lead supplier negotiations within defined authority levels to deliver sustainable COGS reductions and buying income.

  • Draft, manage, and execute contract amendments in alignment with legal, finance, and sourcing standards.

  • Support working capital improvement initiatives, including extended payment terms (DPO optimization).

RFP & Sourcing Excellence

  • Execute RFPs and sourcing events using best-in-class processes and tools.

  • Ensure sourcing documentation, analysis, and award recommendations are complete, accurate, and timely.

  • Support post-award implementation to ensure savings and service commitments are realized.

Operational & Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Own weekly price calculations, routines, and maintenance of pricing files.

  • Conduct research related to zero-rate opportunities and other cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Monitor supplier fill rate and service performance; escalate and resolve issues as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Category Management, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations to ensure sourcing strategies are executable.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for sourcing processes and assigned product categories.

SUPERVISION:

  • 3-5 Associate Sourcing Managers

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Work across all levels of USF staff within corporate, region and divisional organizations, up to and including corporate executive leadership.

  • External: Manage relationships with multiple critical vendors and work closely with external third parties, vendors and consulting firms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid: This role is partially remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a combined home-based and office-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7 years of Sourcing or related experience including RFP, negotiations, vendor management and pricing.

  • 3 years of people management and/or leadership experience.

  • Proven experience in negotiations.

  • Ability to operate successfully in a matrix environment and work effectively across multiple groups and levels.

  • Solid negotiation skills and excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to utilizing the skills of influence, persuasion and negotiation to achieve goals.

  • Solid quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to work in a team setting, drive team results and support change management within the organization. 

  • Able to provide fact-based recommendations across various levels of management.

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills. 

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Microsoft Outlook

EDUCATION

  • Four-year college degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sourcing or related experience within the foodservice industry or food manufacturing companies.
