Warren Averett is seeking an experienced tax accountant for our firm.  The ideal candidate will possess their CPA, have a minimum of 10 years of public accounting experience and be experienced in State and Local Tax (SALT).ResponsibilitiesReview complicated tax returns for privately held companies in a variety of industries (C-Corp, S-Corp, and Partnership experience preferred)Work closely with companies to effectively identify tax planning and risk management opportunitiesAssist in Federal and State audit examinations and monitor RAR adjustments for state tax impactAnalyze potential federal and state tax incentives and credits in order to maintain low ETRAnalysis of state tax sourcing of receipts to develop filing methodologies for various jurisdictionsAwareness of compliance risks outside of financial industry’s traditional tax obligationsAssist in sales use tax controversy, if anyTax risk assessment and mitigation including development of structural assessment planReview state tax provision/state tax true-ups Participate in industry efforts and programs with colleagues and advisorsAssume responsibility: including client contact, coordination within the company, staffing requirements, administrative documentation, and preparation timing for engagementsParticipate with more experienced personnel in planning and researching complicated tax issues and direct clients on the optimal solutionsWork on special projects and oversee the activities of associates and senior associatesDevelop and maintain quality client relationshipsDevelop skills to attract new clients and market the company’s services and products and facilitate expansion of business with existing clientsRequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 10 years of experience in public accountingPossession of CPAExcellent communication skills for interaction with staff and clientsAbility to provide guidance and direction to department staff who are not direct reportsSpecialty in SALT work
