Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Patient Care Tech II, you function as a Nurse Assistant and as a Unit Clerk, as determined by department needs. Performs individualized patient-focused care and technical tasks under the direct delegation of a registered nurse based on the developmental levels of the department’s specific patient population. Assist patients with the activities of daily living utilizing a patient-centered approach. Serves as a patient advocate working in a collaborative manner with the interdisciplinary team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. What you should expect to do in this role:
- You will assist with the care of the patient in collaboration with the patient care team
- You will maintain and applies principles of patient safety
- You will ensure decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner
- You will participate in the improvement of operational functions and of patient care
- You will establish communication and respectful relationships with all disciplines
- You will recognize when and how to escalate patient concerns up the chain of command
- You will always present a positive image while directing customers to appropriate areas
- You will answer telephone and intercom efficiently and courteously, relaying messages and calls to appropriate personnel and other departments as needed
- You will maintain records, transcribes physician orders, and assures orders are carried out in an expeditious manner
- You will coordinate activities of nursing unit with other departments
What qualifications you will need for this role:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. and American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- CNA Training program
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Basic personal computer skills
- multi-tasking and prioritization skills
- One year of nurse assistant experience in an acute care setting
