- Licensing/Certification: Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as an OT or have a good-standing license of Occupational Therapy in another state and awaiting licensure in Alaska.
- Must also hold a current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Current BLS.
Certification Details
- Provides full-time, quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care.
- May include some work at our local Long Term Care facility.
- Treats all patient age ranges and diagnoses within the State of Alaska's occupational therapy scope of practice.
- Includes home visits, village travel, and frequent collaboration with medical providers.
- Requires strong didactic skills due to Alaska's Direct Access privilege for occupational therapy.
- Incorporates evidenced-based medicine into patient plans of care.
- Exemplifies professional conduct, patient care ethics and respect for cultural diversity when rendering patient care.
- Modifies patient care plans appropriately, using age-specific and patient-specific considerations.

Job Details
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.
- Minimum Experience: No minimum clinical experience required but is preferred.

Schedule Information
- Hospital based: Standard Occupational Therapy Department environment includes hi-lo table, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound and electric stimulation modalities, ADL training room (includes bathroom and kitchen).
- Village-based: Usually a treatment table is provided. Therapist brings out what is needed for patient care (theraband, exercise programs, etc.).
- Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret occupational therapy periodicals and medical literature.
- Ability to compose patient care documentation and medical correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff, peers and administrative personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members of a different culture who may or may not speak English.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Periodic self-assessment
