This Thanksgiving is going to be different, no doubt!
But it need not be different in a negative sense. Although you may not have the regular get-together parties and family gatherings like other years, you can always make it memorable. You may enhance the real essence of Thanksgiving this year. Somehow, it may have gotten lost amidst all the merriment and social media humdrum. So let us revive that and give thanks to all the people who made this year easier.
Oh yes! The turkey and potato feasts are not going anywhere, so there is no reason to worry.
Who all can we thank this Thanksgiving?
Families -Their never-ending support
Throughout the pandemic, they are the ones who have made the difficult times easier to manage. It will not be wrong to say that this year has made us all realize the immense power of the family and their importance in life. If it were not for them, we would have ended up in a messy, uncontrollable misery. So, here’s to the kind and loving souls, our family members, parents, siblings, spouses, and children, who helped us fight the crisis of 2020. With their support, we can overcome any set of challenges and maintain a balance in our lives.
Colleagues - Going the extra mile
The remote-working trend has helped a lot of people stay home and safe amidst the pandemic. About 64% of the US workforce switched to the WFH model at the outbreak of the viral disease. But most of them felt quite depressed in the initial days.
Many factors led to the manifold increase in the rate of depression, which tripledduring the lockdown. One of these is the complete cut-off from society and confinement to the homes. We were craving that connection, those laughter and good times that we usually spend with our colleagues in the office. However, our colleagues did not disappoint us. They kept calling, chatting, and checking on us to know if we are doing well. Many of them also went the extra mile to send gifts, cards, and flowers on special occasions, like birthdays, anniversaries, and so on. This Thanksgiving let’s make it a point to thank them for their unmatched support and care during the hard times.
The HR - Constant assistance, care, and support
Some of the biggest challenges were faced by HR during the pandemic. As more than half of the workforce was working from home, they had to go through several hurdles to stay in touch and maintain contact. From handling queries to serving as the solid bridge between employers and employees, they left no stone unturned to improve organizational productivity. If you are an employer, you may also reward them to show your acknowledgment for their immense support. As employees, you can team up to arrange for a surprise to appreciate the HR team.
The employer - For their understanding and appreciation
Not only your colleagues and the HR, but your employers have also been quite supportive during the period. They have acknowledged financial crises and provided paychecks on time. They have also improved the flexibility of schedule by allowing you to work any time, as long as you meet the deadlines. On some special occasions, they went the extra mile to make your feet motivated and less depressed. Although it was not possible to hold corporate get-togethers this year, the employers gave their nod for virtual celebrations. This Thanksgiving, write a beautiful ‘Thank You’ note for your employer for their never-ending support and motivation.
The clients and customers - For being more patient and supportive
Yes! You can thank them for being patient and accommodating about deadlines and deliveries. They understood how difficult it is to work under critical circumstances, as they were facing it too. If you have been able to keep your income intact in these challenging times, your customers are to be thanked for that. You may send them gifts or personalized notes to acknowledge their support.
The essential workers
Of course! This Thanksgiving, it must be your primary duty to thank all those people who made life possible in the difficult times of the pandemic. They even put their lives at stake to serve the nation, directly or indirectly. The frontline doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers, medical researchers, truckers, delivery personnel, retail store owners, utility services providers, and similar professionals need a big round of applause this Thanksgiving. With the spirit of warriors and the mental strength of a superhuman, they worked relentlessly to keep us going.
Wrapping it up
Last but not least, thank yourself for trying to give in your best and perform to your utmost capability. Even if you broke at times, unable to fight anymore, you did not quit. So, appreciate your fighting spirit that showed its true potential this year. Now you have the confidence that no matter what challenges life throws at you, overcoming them will not be too difficult. Save yourself a large chunk of that Turkey, as you did well this year.
Happy Thanksgiving!
