Epic sued by employee
Cher Scarlett is a former Activision Blizzard and Apple employee who is known for her labor advocacy and support for unions. Recently, she filed a case with National Labor Relations Board against Epic Games. In her complaint, Scarlet alleges that the "Fortnight" developer refused to hire her because she supported a labor organization, Scarlett has been working with NLBR to protest work conditions. 

Scarlett had apparently gone through rounds of interviews with Epic between November and December 2021. On December 8 she received an email from the management with a "Request for Activity" form which was to disclose "any efforts you take outside of work that may overlap with your potential role at Epic". She filled out the form in which she said that she was advising Apple members to start a labor movement called "Apple Together" to testify before the federal government for fair labor practices. Two days later, Epic informed her that they had decided to go with another candidate who'd scored higher in the interviews. 

Epic Games spokesperson Elka looks confirmed that Scarlett had indeed interviewed for the role of senior front-end developer and that Scarlett's advocacy played no part in her rejection. "We received the 'Request for outside activities' form after we had already made the hiring decision for the position and had extended the offer to someone else. The form did not play any role in our decision. Candidates are asked to fill out an outside activity form over the course of the recruitment process and providing the form to a candidate is not confirmation that an offer is forthcoming."

The matter is currently under investigation by NLBr
