Southwest Air employee injured due to passenger misconduct, hospitalized
The Federal Aviation Administration has noted the steep increase in cases of unruly passengers and violence against aviation staff this year. They have so far documented 5,100 cases as of November 9th and 236 enforcement cases filed.
The recent incident that happened to a Southwest Airlines employee just adds to this list. Previously HelpWanted had reported a story about how a Southwest employee was accused of racism against a mixed-race family, the tables seem to have turned this time around. A Southwest Airlines Co. employee was hospitalized in Texas after an altercation with a passenger boarding a flight to New York led to the employee being punched in the head.
Arielle Jean Jackson, 32, was boarding a flight to New York's La Guardia Airport when she got into a verbal altercation with a Southwest Employee after which she was asked to leave the flight, as she was leaving she got into another verbal confrontation with the operations agent which quickly turned physical. Jackson struck the agent with her closed fist according to reports by the Dallas Police who arrived at the scene and Jackson. She was charged with aggravated assault. The employee was immediately taken to Dallas hospital in stable condition, there is no information available about her present state. Southwest Management put out a statement saying that they fully support the employee and pray for her speedy recovery.
