Ford makes plans to invest in new jobs in Midwestern States

Ford Motor announced that it was planning to invest $3.7 billion in facilities across the Midwest to produce its electric vehicles. These facilities are expected to provide 6000 union jobs in the region. 



Jim Farley, the company's president and chief executive said in his statement that "We're investing in American jobs and our employees to build a new generation of incredible Ford vehicles.", He added, "Transforming our company for the next era of American manufacturing requires new ways of working." The announcement was made in collaboration with the United Automobile Worker's Union, detailing investments in three Midwestern States. 



The facilities in Michigan will be tied to the production of the F-150 Lightning pickup truck, a total investment of $2 billion will be used to create about 3,200 union jobs. Ford's primary focus in Ohio will be to build commercial electric vehicles using an investment of $1.5 billion creating nearly 2000 union jobs. Kansas City will be the site for an assembly plant that will produce commercial vans, some gas, and some electric. Around 1000 union jobs will be added here.
