As the holiday season approaches most companies are ramping up their marketing strategies to get their foot in the door during the holiday rush. These techniques become especially important this year with most of these makers facing a large-scale labor shortage. The story of Schleich, a Charlotte-based toymaker is no different.

Schleich which makes animal characters and playsets recently held a very popularized nationwide content to appoint their new chief storytelling officer. After months of searching, Marcello Brucculeri was selected from over 150 applicants. The company was impressed by his vivid storytelling and imagination. As a part of Marcello's live audition tape, he narrated a story about how all the animals went back in time to attend a dinosaurs birthday party. Executive Kelli Masilun talking about the companies idea to employ an eight-year-old said that it made more sense to have children who are masters in storytelling come up with stories rather than a bunch of grown-ups sitting in a conference room trying to connect with children. Marcello will appear in the company's holiday campaigns on television and feature in a Youtube series, he also won $10,000 as part of the contest. The toymaker has already begun shooting with Marcello and the first episode of the series was released on Monday on their Youtube channel.

Schleich which employs over 60 people in Charlotte is an 85-year-old company but they sure aren't living in pre-historic times.
