Experts predict that the COVID-19 pandemic is going to have a disastrous impact on wages, irrespective of the economy reopening. This will be owed to the downward shift in the US GDP, which will have a cascading effect on wages. BLS had predicted 8.4 million new jobs would be added between 2018 and 2028, out of these, 4.6 million are low-paid, personal service jobs in retail, security, sanitation and healthcare.
