Jobseekers are currently relying extensively on online tools and techniques to get out of their pandemic sulk and get a job, since these avenues are new for all of us, job seekers are still finding their way in navigating these tools.
Rejections are not pretty to deal with, many people are facing an alarming number of projections and we can't help but wonder what are they doing wrong? Patrick Moran is one such person who was looking for a job change through job portals. After multiple rejections, Moran realized that there must be some problem with his application process. Moran and three job coaches sat down to evaluate, the experts said that with a few changes to the common mistakes he is making, his chances can improve drastically. These developments could not only help Moran secure a job but also grow a very useful network.
The first thing that was needed was a summary, Moran was missing a summary explaining why he is a good fit especially since he was transitioning between industries. It allows them to explain how they are fit for a job even without past experience. Adrian Klaphaak a life coaching service founder said that job seekers should look for openings with specific job titles on job portals to find key requirements that they all mention, eventually add them into your summary while applying. The summary can also include personality and marketing skills. Another expert said that since employers and sites use programs to weed through a sea of applicants, the applicant should research keywords suitable for an employee in that post and add them to their resume to increase their chances of getting picked.
