The National Restaurant Association predicts the industry sales will increase by 20% bringing it to $659 billion to $789 billion compared to 2020. Increased demands from consumers, vaccine availability and stimulus checks all boosted sales in restaurants for the first half of the year and helped them recover from the early losses.

However. issues like rising cost of food and fuel and labor shortage have hit the restaurant business yet again this year. The resurgence of covid 19 and the Delta variant have only made things worse. Restaurant owners say that all these factors have greatly affected consumers behaviours. Data shows that staffing has grown but food service places are still below pre-pandemic staff levels.
