The state of Vermont is offering relocation bonuses of up to $7,500 to in-demand workers. Amidst the labor shortages across the country, Vermont aims to boost local businesses. Many businesses in Vermont had temporarily shut down due to staffing shortages.
Vermont's commissioner of economic development, Joan Goldstein said that the hospitality sector has faced the brunt of labor shortages and the department is looking forward to hiring to fill some administrative roles. Vermont was among the first stae\tes to offer relocation bonuses back in 2018 to attract more workers to the state. Under the 2018 program, about 300 residents have moved to the state. Under the current program, newcomers will have to take up in-demand jobs that vary from cashiers and construction workers to retail work and carpentry.
