Texas teacher resigns after science experiment
A science teacher from the Granbury Independent School District resigned after a science experiment in class resulted in one of the students getting 3rd-degree burns.
Granbury Police Department officials were called to the Granbury Middle School on Friday after a student ended up with 3rd-degree burns as the aftermath of a science experiment. According to officials, the 37-year-old female teacher put a hand sanitizer on the hands of her 12-year-old male student and lit the solution on fire resulting in the injury.
According to the parents, the teacher apparently asked the student "if they wanted to see something cool". Granbury police reported that she had done the experiment "multiple times throughout the day with other students without incident." Th officials are investigating the incident and it will be transferred to the District Attorney's office soon. The student is receiving medical care and attention. Due to confidentiality, the details of the student or teacher haven't been released.
