Being a job seeker amidst the pandemic

While the numbers are at an all-time low and unemployment rates skyrocket, it is important to remember that now is the time to reskill, upskill and look forward. Yes, it is a devastating job market, but there are thousands of jobs being added to different industries that are booming due to the pandemic. Online shopping is one such industry which is experiencing a boom, and are adding jobs to keep up with the surge in demand. The remote style of interviewing is also proving to be a bit of a barrier as not all applicants are technologically equipped to give an interview without glitches. Another aspect that jobseekers are facing is that there is no scope for negotiations, as employers themselves are at a crunch. Job seekers are advised to lower their expectations and be adaptable for now and look for jobs which are recession-proof.
