As lockdowns have been imposed to keep citizens from contacting the COVID-19 virus, a wave of layoffs within hospitality and tourism sent shockwaves through the nation. It has been one fo the worst months in US history, in terms of job loss. The leisure and hospitality industry slashed 7.7 million jobs and 47% of positions were wiped out. Foodservice was the worst hit as 5.5 million chefs, waiters and cashiers lost their jobs.
