40% of jobs added in May were part-time

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced on Friday that the US labour market is recovering after the bashing it took in March and April. After losing millions of jobs, the month of May witnessed a surge in the jobs added. The number of people working part-time and full-time rose by 3.8 million in May, but we need to take every bit of positive news with a pinch of salt. Of these jobs added, nearly 40 per cent, or 1.6 million were part-time jobs, which means that millions are still living in uncertainty and are receiving less pay than they were when they were employed full-time.
