#AppleToo leader fired

The usually tightlipped technology giant was in the limelight recently for allegations regarding the treatment of its employees. Janneke Parrish who was a product manager at Apple was also someone who spearheaded the #AppleToo movement. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that when she was fired, the correlation was immediate. Parrish ran an #AppleToo digest which posted anonymous stories of Apple employees who had faced some sort of issue at the workplace. Parrish was also named in several articles where she showed support for Cher Scarlett who founded the #AppleToo movement and is now on medical leave.

Parrish was informed that she was under investigation by Apple’s global security division under the charges of leaking confidential information regarding CEO Tim Cook’s Virtual Townhall Meeting which happened on 18th September. Parrish however, denies leaking any information and wholeheartedly believes that she was fired for her involvement in the #AppleToo movement. This incident occurred at a time when many employees of Silicon Valley tech giants are opening up- Francis Haugen, the Facebook whistleblower being number one.
