A fraction of Google's employees, almost 600 of them have reported signed and circulated a manifesto opposing the companies vaccine mandate.
According to the rules issued by the government, companies with more than 100 employees require all their employees to mandatorily be fully vaccinated before January 4, 2022. As a result, Google made it mandatory for its over 15,000 employees to be vaccinated by December 3rd, this is regardless of if you work in the office or remote.
Google's Vice President of Security, Chris Rackow said that the vaccine is an essential part of the community especially in its fight against Covid-19. The vaccine mandate is imposed to ensure the safety of all the employees as well as everyone in their surrounding vicinity. Needless to say, similar to the situation that many other employers are facing, a fraction of Apple employees, less than 0.5% to be precise, have opposed the mandate. The employees sent out a manifesto asking the executives to roll back the mandate and to create one that is 'inclusive of all googlers'. They also urged other employees to "oppose the mandate as a matter of principle".
