Apple employees to submit proof for booster shots

According to a report citing an internal email, Apple has required all its employees to provide proof of their covid 19 booster shots. Starting January 24, all employees who are unvaccinated or those who haven't produced proof of their booster shots will require negative covid tests to entire Apple's workplaces. It is not clear if the testing requirement immediately applies to both Apple's corporate and retail employees.

According to The Verge, the memo read, "Due to waning efficacy of the primary series of Covid-19 vaccines and the emergence of highly transmissible variants such as Omicron, a booster shot is now part of staying up to date with your Covid-19 vaccination to protect against severe disease." Apple did not immediately respond for a comment.

Many US companies have been strengthening their covid safety rules, mandating vaccination and delaying return-to-office plans as the Omicron variant rapidly spreads across the country. This week, Meta platforms mandated covid 19 booster shots for all workers returning to offices. It has also delayed office reopenings to March 28. Meanwhile, a report says that Amazon has offered $40 to its US warehouse workers to get a booster shot.
