Lawsuit against Activision Blizzard over employee death

Gaming world titan Activision Blizzard is in the news again. Last year the company garnered a generous amount of media attention when they were called out for their discriminative and sexist working environment.

Now, the family of one of their female employees who committed suicide has sued the company. Kerri Moynihan worked as a finance manager for Activision when she was found dead during a company retreat. Her parents have filed a wrongful death suit against the company with the Los Angeles Supreme Court, in the suit they allege that the rampant sexual harassment culture postered by the company prompted their daughter to take her own life. These allegations were made after Anaheim Police Department approached Moynihan's supervisor and he denied having a relationship with her. Apart from this, when the police requested Activision to hand over the victim's company-issued phone and laptop, they refused to do so saying that the device had been "wiped". A company spokesperson in an e-mail statement said that they are deeply saddened by the incident.

Activision is currently also being investigated for workplace harassment and gender discrimination under the lawsuit filed by California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
