Why the job market cheer is not what it seems
The news of the latest unemployment rate for the month of May was released by the Beuro of Labor Statistics last Friday, and ever since, this news has been breaking the internet. People all over the nation rejoiced, and everyone was relieved about this unexpected upward trajectory. But, this may be a naive reason to rejoice, because workers in America tell a different story. The opening of the economy was supposed to be good news for job seekers, however, workers report fewer hours, less pay and a lot of anxiety. More work for less pay has become the new normal in the US for the millions of Americans who have returned to work.
