Most large employers now require vaccines for workers

According to a survey, most large US employers say that they now require or plan to mandate the covid 19 vaccine for all their workers. The survey by corporate advisory firm Willis Towers Watson included more than 500 companies. The survey comes amid the Biden administration's new rule about workplace vaccinations. Under the administration's regulation, all companies with more than 100 employees are required to get vaccinated or undergo regular weekly testing.

The implementation of the emergency standard is currently on hold after a federal appeals court reaffirmed an earlier temporary halt on the vaccine rule earlier this month and ordered the Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to stop enforcing or implementing the regulation. The Willis Towers Watson survey sheds some light on how large companies are approaching the covid 19 vaccinations amid challenges to the Biden administration's rule. The rule has been the target of lawsuits from at least 11 states over its constitutionality.

Around 6 in 10 companies indicated that they already require the vaccination for their employees or that they plan to implement such a requirement. Yet roughly, a third of the respondents said that they will move forward with the vaccine mandate only if an Ohio district court upholds the OHSA rule.
