Fox Corporation, the company that owns Fox News announced to its workers on Friday that all those who are working in New York City will have to show proof that they've taken at least one dose of vaccine by December 27th. The company had earlier allowed employees to opt-out of getting the vaccine by adhering to weekly testing.
The new policy is in line with New York City's vaccine rule announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio. NYC mandate requires on-site workers at all businesses to be vaccinated. The mandate affects 184,000 businesses. A Fox Corporation spokesperson said that the company's policies are in line with the mandate and almost 90 percent of their employees are already vaccinated. NYC is also currently witnessing a surge in the number of Covid cases. On Friday they reported 21,027 cases which is the highest single-day hike since the pandemic. New York's mandate for workplaces requires that the recipients of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines receive a second dose, but the policy does not currently include booster shots.
