Workers eligible for covid 19 booster shot

Workers who have jobs that put them at a high risk of exposure to covid 19 are now eligible for booster shots according to the latest guidelines from both Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  In addition to this, all adults above the age of 65, people in homeless shelters, care institutions and institutions will also receive a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. This will also be open to Americans with underlying medical conditions.

The decision to allot booster shots to high-risk workers came after a disagreement between government health officials. A panel of CDC advisers on Thursday voted against the booster shots for frontline workers and others with a high chance of exposure to the virus. This was however disagreed upon by the CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, hence the clearance for booster shots. She said in a statement that the nation's public health can be best served by providing booster shots to the elderly and to those with a high chance of exposure. The same panel of the CDC will also review data on the safety and efficacy of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines that are not yet approved by the FDA.
