Mississippi wood pellet plant

Enviva Inc is a company that makes wood pellets to be used as an energy source. They recently announced that they will be investing $250 million to open a new plant in the South Mississippi community of Bond.

Mississippi Development Authority which is the division responsible for the economic development of the state said in a news release that it is providing support for site development work and infrastructure. Not only that but Enviva has also been certified for the Advantage Jobs Rebate Program. This program is for companies that create jobs exceeding the average annual wage of the state or county in which the company is located or plans to expand. Stone County, the city of Wiggins, and the Stone County Utility Authority are also providing support for the project.

The company said that once the plant starts operating at full capacity, it will offer up to 350 jobs including those in logging and transportation. The construction of the plant will start in early 2023 and last for about a year and a half, this too will provide employment opportunities to those working in construction.
