U.S. job openings increased in October

There was a hike in the number of openings in October but there was a rise in the layoffs too according to the month-old Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, or JOLTS report from the Labor Department on Wednesday. However, with the spike in case, the openings might not be as one would have anticipated. “The labor market remains miles and miles away from the best economy in 50 years in February before the pandemic struck,” said Chris Rupkey, chief economist at MUFG in New York.
