200+ companies join pledge to reach net-zero carbon by 2040

The companies are also ultimately agreeing to net-zero carbon by 2040. Some experts point out that for the plan to be effective, it requires high levels of transparency and accurate calculations of the costs to remove carbon. In total, all signatories on the pledge generate an annual revenue of more than $1.8 trillion and employ more than 7 million workers across 26 industries in 21 countries. Other companies that signed the pledge earlier this year include Visa, Pepsi, Heineken and Alaska Airlines.
