US IT growth slowed: BLS data

According to the analysis of the BLS data conducted by CompTIA, the growth of the IT sector in the US has slowed down in February 2022. While the data from The US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that non-farm employment growth across the rest of the economy.

US non-farm workforce grew by 678,000 in February 2022 compared to an increase of 481,000 in January, but the share of this growth joining the technological sector is less. The joining rate fell dramatically from 15,300 in January 2022 to 5,300 in February 2022. These figures were confirmed by an analysis conducted by CompTIA.

So why is this happening? experts say it's not because companies don't want IT, workers, it's because they are not willing to pay them accordingly. The number of job postings for the technology sector increased from 50,000 to 388,000 in February. Consultancy firm Janco Associates believe that keeping in mind the current salary inflation, salaries for new hires needs to rise by 8-11% in order to meet the IT workers' expectations.

Some roles that employers are finding hard to fill are, software developers, software engineers, IT support specialists, IT project managers, network engineers and architects, and systems engineers and architects. Vacancies for these roles are available all over the country, especially in Bois, St Louis, Colorado Springs, Kansas City, New York, Washington DC, Dallas, LA, and San Francisco.
