41 new editing jobs at Washington Post
As part of its plan for growth in both national and international coverage under its new executive editor, Washington Post is expanding its editor roles. The former top editor of Associated Press Sally Buzbeetook the role of the executive editor in June and on Monday has announced about creating openings for 41 editing jobs at The Washington Post. In a note to the staff on Monday she also added that these posts would add to their capacity to cover global news as it breaks.
The new roles include two deputy managing editors a number of openings for assignment editors, breaking news editors, multiplatform editors and two editors to uphold newsroom standards. Buzbee in an interview said that these new roles would also increase the number of journalists of color in editing roles. "It will improve the diversity of our staff and provide career paths across the newsroom for a more diverse group of people from a variety of backgrounds and skillsets", she added.
