Toyota plans to build a $1.29 billion battery manufacturing factory in the US to make batteries aimed at supporting gas-electric hybrid and fully electric vehicles. Although the plant's location is not confirmed, it is said to employ over 1750 people in order to start manufacturing batteries by 2025 with plans to expand by 2031.
This plant is a confirmed part of Toyota's $3.4 billion US expansion project to make automatic batteries over the next decade. This announcement comes at a time when multiple people are choosing to transition to electric-powered vehicles from combustible engines. This comes along with a wave of similar announcements. Stellantis and LG Energy Solutions said that they too plan to build a battery manufacturing company to get 40% of their US sales from electric vehicles. Foxconn Technologies also announced on Monday that they plan to manufacture electric cars and buses for the Chinese, North American, and European markets. Ford Motor Co. plans on converting a transmission factory in Northwest England into an electric unit manufacturing plant. Although the location is not confirmed for many of these factories, General Motors plans to build the factory in Ohio and Tennessee while Ford plans of setting shop in Tennessee and Kentucky. All these news plants mean that there is that many opening for employment in these units.
