Nabisco workers on strike in 5 states

Unionized Nabisco workers involved in the production of Oreos, Chips Ahoy! and other Nabisco snacks continue their strike in 5 states. The workers in Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Oregon and Virginia raise demands to Mondelez International, Nabisco's owner. Some of the demands include the restoration of the pension plan, change in shift timings and better overtime pay.

Union workers say they've put in 16-hour long workdays as the demand for snack foods has risen during the pandemic. Workers who do weekend shifts were previously eligible for extra pay but now have to complete 40 hours a week to be eligible for the same. The union also says they have been treated unfairly when the company enjoyed a 12 percent revenue gain in June compared to last year.
