Internships become even more difficult
Landing internships during college is one of the most competitive spaces for students. A good internship becomes your gateway to landing your first job after graduation, it is an opportunity for you to make connections and improve your networking skills. However, due to the pandemic, multiple companies did not open internships this year which made it even more difficult and competitive.
Students were left scrambling for any opportunity that they found, even those who applied would not receive any response or would get rejected months later. A majority of students this year had to do remote or unpaid internships. This brought its own pitfalls, many students complained about not being able to do simple things such as read the room during zoom calls. The process of application became tedious which led to people losing interest and lacking perseverance. Many halted the application process due to this.
