Income declines in these 20 cities
While the average per capita income in America has more than doubled in the last 60 years, the increase is not consistent across all cities of the United States. There has been a decline in incomes in these 20 cities. The average per capita income in 1959 was about $15,000 and that in 2019 was $35,672. Some of the metro areas on this list are Rust Belt communities. They are former manufacturing hubs that have undergone a considerable economic decline in recent decades.
